Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi. Teenage romantic drama gets a release date in Japanese cinemas.
The film by Josee to Tora to Sakana-tachi (The Girl, the Tiger and the Fish) was announced in late 2019. The short story was written in 1984 by an author known only as Tanabe. The following year, publisher Kadokawa Shoten released the material in the West as a novel which was re-released in 1987. The story is a Romantic Youth Drama centered on the relationship and emotional growth of young Tsuneo and dreamer Josee. He is a college student and she is a girl who rarely leaves the house on her own because she uses a wheelchair. The girl spends her time reading and painting until she found Tsuneo when her mother was taking her for a walk in the morning. This meeting begins the couple's story with her deciding it's time to face the real world. Kadokawa confirmed a few days ago that the film will be shown in Summer/2020 (in July) being produced by the Bones studio (the same as Boku no Hero Academia) with direction by Koutarou Tamura, text by screenwriter Sayaka Kuwamura, animation direction by Haruko Lizuka , soundtrack by Evan Call, concept design by Loundraw and character design by Nao Emoto, she who is also set to release a manga version of the novel by publisher Da Vinci earlier this year. Emoto is responsible for the new illustrative image that we leave below. Among the technical staff highlights, Haruko Lizuka was animation director on Inu x Boku SS, Loundraw was character designer on Tsuki ga Kirei and Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai, and Evan Call worked on the soundtrack for Violet Evergarden.
