Hibike is back for a third season! Euphonium has been set for 2024, and a new film will be released next year.
Many of you may not recall, but Kyoto Animation confirmed a third season for Hibike! in July 2019.
Euphonium (Soe! Euphonium) is a musical instrument.
The announcement came just days before the studio's history-making arson fire, which forced a significant reorganization and postponed all of its initiatives.
In parallel a film entitled "Ansaburu Kontesuto" (Ensemble Contest) is also in production and will hit the Japanese cinemas sometime in 2023.
For those who don't know Hibike! Euphonium is one of the most exquisite animations from Kyoto Animation, a studio praised worldwide for the whimsy of its projects and one of the industry's pacesetters in terms of quality.
Inspired by the light novel by author Ayano Takeda, the story follows teenager Kumiko Oumae and her high school friends who are members of the talented Kitauji High School wind band, as they experience the dramas, dreams and fears typical of youth. The continuation will deal with the 3rd high school year of the characters.
The 1st season was aired in 2015 (13 episodes) with a sequel in 2016 (13 episodes) in addition to some summaries, side stories and the 2019 movie "Chikai no Finale" which featured the plot sequel.
