This time I want to discuss the manga that has been on my mind for the past few weeks, Takopii no Genzai. Takopii no Genzai or in English Octoppi's Original Sin has a rough meaning of Octopus Original Sin. This manga focuses on the psychological, drama and, tragedy genres. With a genre like this, this manga will definitely make us a little mentally disturbed.
Synopsis : A guest from the planet of happiness, the alien Takopi, arrives on Earth to spread happiness throughout the Earth and meets Shizuka, a girl who never smiles. Looks like she has problems at school and with friends... What will the simple-minded Takopi face? An amazing story begins!

Briefly, this manga tells about an octopus-shaped alien Happy Alien from The Happy Planet. Happy Alien meets Shizuka and this sad story begins.

Happy Alien, an alien who is on a journey to spread happiness throughout the universe, falls to earth and meets Shizuka. Shizuka, the girl who never smiled. They met on a park bench, Shizuka who didn't know the name of Happy Alien started calling Happy Alien Takopii. Tako which means octopus and pii is the ending pronounced Happy Alien.
When they met Shizuka seemed always sad and hurt. Takopii who wanted to make Shizuka happy started to give his Happy Tools (a kind of Doraemon tool) to Shizuka but Shizuka always refused.

One day Takopii saw Shizuka smile for the first time. Shizuka was playing with her beloved dog Chappy. Shizuka lives alone with her mother and Chappy is a legacy from her father.
The next day, when she met Shizuka's whole body was injured and in her hand was Chappy's necklace without Chappy wearing it. Shizuka had a fight with her friend. Takopii who always thinks positive and is very innocent believes Shizuka's lies. Takopii gave one of his Happy Tools the Making Up Ribbon. This ribbon works when a person crosses their pinky with another person, they will immediately make up and this ribbon can be pulled forever. Shizuka accepted it. Shizuka put it on. Shizuka denied it. Shizuka used the ribbon to end her life.

I really like the sad story that this manga brings. The story focuses on Shizuka who is bullied and a child from a broken home. Although the content of the story is very dark, there is a white side, Takopii. Takopii is very innocent so he doesn't realize that Shizuka is being bullied plus Takopii is an alien who doesn't know about human culture at all.

2 very contrasting pages. One depicts hope and one describes despair.

The conclusion of this manga is very good and I recommend it. A story that balances dark (Shizuka) and white (Takopii). The shift from the white to the dark side is surprising. One suggestion I want to convey, when reading this manga prepare mentally.
