 Tenma is an excellent neurosurgeon, the best in his hospital. He has become engaged to the daughter of the hospital director and a bright future awaits him. Everything changes one night, two twins arrive urgently at the hospital and when he is preparing the operation the mayor also arrives urgently. He receives orders to deal with the mayor, but Tenma begins the operation he had prepared with the first patient who arrived.



 He will save the patient, but the mayor operated on by a lower level doctor will die. This will be a turn in his life, he is expelled from the hospital and his bright future fades. Days later the director of the hospital and all those who benefited from the expulsion of Tenma begin to die.

Obviously Tenma is the prime suspect.

Anime: The series was adapted by Madhouse and began broadcasting on June 6, 2004, ending with chapter 74 on September 27, 2005. The design of the characters and environments of the anime is very similar to the manga, being its animation of excellent quality and faithfully following the original story. It was directed by Masayuki Kojima, written by Tatsuhiko Urahata, and scored by Kuniaki Haishima.
